Faith & Justice Internship

SUMMARY OF POSITION
As Amirah Inc. seeks to provide aftercare, resources, and outreach opportunities for women who have survived sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, and prostitution, we look for the Church to be synonymous with justice and action. To that end, we are seeking a Faith + Justice Intern with strong interpersonal skills to assist our Director of Faith + Justice Initiatives in connecting churches to our mission and deepening connections with existing Church Partners. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with many of Amirah’s most faithful Church Partners as they lead their congregations into the world of domestic anti-trafficking.

This position is based in the Hartford, CT area and reports to the Director of Faith + Justice Initiatives. Remote work is possible.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the planning and execution of Amirah’s communications and faith + justice activities

  • Assist Director of Faith + Justice Initiatives in developing Amirah’s Hope Sunday strategy in New England and beyond

  • Work in collaboration with the Amirah team to run small and mid-scale events

  • Conduct research on upcoming events, theological projects, potential Church Partners, and related items as assigned

  • Assist with tracking Church Partner communications, database entries, initiations, and stewardship correspondence

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in customer service, sales or other similar roles preferred

  • Completed or enrolled in bachelor’s degree program (theological degree preferred)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Exceptional ability in written and oral communications

  • Proven ability to provide professional customer service to a variety of constituents

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain accurate information; prior experience working with a constituent database preferred

  • Follower of Christ committed to His church and message of the transformative love of Jesus that was displayed on the cross

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and phone presence

  • Ability to earn and maintain trust with regard to sensitive and confidential information

  • Knowledge of human trafficking and experience working in this field preferred

  • Adept at creative problem solving

  • Disciplined with priorities

TIME COMMITMENT

The Faith + Justice Intern will complete 10-15 hours of work per week, to be determined in advance with the Director of Faith + Justice Initiatives. Some hours may be completed remotely.
