Our Impact

Recovery is a long and difficult process that no one should have to do alone. Survivors of sex trafficking face many challenges, like personal struggles with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and mental well-being. The physical abuse from trafficking leaves a toll on the body, and social situations always feel awkward in the “square” world. Making a full comeback from trafficking takes years of work and a host of resources. Our desire is that each survivor have the resources and opportunities to achieve her personal goals – goals like being a mom again, having her own apartment, and a well paying job.

We believe it is possible, and we have seen it happen over and over again. Having a team behind a survivor is transformational – we are that team.

In 2019, we provided:

1,917

NIGHTS OF FREEDOM

5,441

HOURS OF SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL RECOVERY

14,862

HOURS OF VOCATIONAL, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL RECOVERY

215

WOMEN REACHED THROUGH OUTREACH GROUPS

7,852

COMMUNITY MEMBERS EDUCATED ON DOMESTIC SEX TRAFFICKING

307

HEALTH, SOCIAL SERVICE, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS TRAINED IN IDENTIFYING AND HELPING VICTIMS

"The model that Amirah follows, of showing unconditional love, means that if someone truly wants to learn to love themselves it will happen. I have a lot of work to do in that area, I still have many insecurities and I doubt myself often, but I have begun the work. Amirah shows patience and care in a way that no other place I've experienced has. I felt respected as soon as I arrived. This environment has made all the difference in showing me that I always deserve to be treated this way by myself and others."

Our Reach

IN 2020

Residential

We have the opportunity to serve 8 women through our residential program in our Massachusetts safe home. Each woman completes an average of 2,000 hours of recovery work annually and works toward achieving the goals she has set for herself for her life. We are also hoping to open a second safe home in Connecticut in 2020/2021, adding an additional 8 beds to this movement.

Outreach

In 2020, we will serve more than 250 women through survivor-led support groups that teach resiliency and how to break away from psychological coercion. These 5-10 week groups are offered in prisons, community centers, and homeless shelters where victims and survivors often end up spending a lot of time.

Education

We are educating more than 5,000 people in 2020 on how to spot human trafficking, what to do about it, and how to get involved in the movement, supporting victims and survivors.

“It is great to ‘feel’ feelings again. I’m taking back what was always mine in the beginning.”
