Amirah exists to provide aftercare, resources, and opportunities to adult women who have experienced different forms of sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, and prostitution. We do this by offering residential opportunities, wrap-around services, and external education, all with the goal of helping women leave poverty, addiction, and exploitation behind.

  • that there should be no barriers to safe and affordable housing

  • that no person should remain in an exploitative situation due to lack of housing stability

  • that no person should have to engage in survival prostitution to obtain a basic human need

  • that people with lived experience should have a home of their own, where they can heal and work towards full independence

  • that every person with lived experience should have the resources, support, opportunities, and community to heal, grow, and work towards achieving their own personal goals

  • and that people flourish in an environment of freedom and independence.

Hands Up

RAPID RE-HOUSING

Our Rapid Re-Housing program quickly places women into permanent housing and provides rental assistance for 2 years. During these 2 years, we develop an economic stability plan with each woman and empower her to reach her goals so that she can thrive in independence. We work to keep women in permanent housing after the rental assistance expires and we continue to offer case management, life coaching, groups, and communal opportunities with no expiration date.

Amirah’s RRH program is designed to help women achieve stability in four primary areas:

  1. Housing Security: When we are not safely housed, we are not safe at all.

  2. Economic Stability: When we cannot pay our bills, we are at risk.

  3. Communal Connections: When we isolate, we stagnate. When we find safe community, we soar.

  4. Self Esteem: We don’t just believe that we are worthy of these things – we know it.
